The “Nutrition for Children and Adolescents” Programme is designed for children and adolescents who need a structured plan to support healthy growth and development, organise meals, address selective eating, manage a change in body weight, accommodate school and extracurricular commitments, or transition to a specific dietary pattern, in the absence of complex illness.
What’s included
- an initial consultation lasting up to 60 minutes, with the parent or carer required to attend and the child involved in an age-appropriate way
- an assessment of eating habits and available growth data, using the appropriate growth charts where indicated
- a personalised four-week meal plan
- practical guidance on snacks, meals away from home, routines and gradually increasing dietary variety
- one follow-up consultation lasting up to 30 minutes and support throughout the four weeks in which the plan is being followed
The plan is delivered within five to seven working days. Where there is a clinically significant deviation in growth, a suspected feeding or eating disorder, severe selective eating, chronic illness or a need for a therapeutic diet, the medical or complex programme applies in collaboration with the treating healthcare team.
Please note: Children over the age of six must attend the consultation with a parent or carer, as their involvement is considered essential to support adherence to the recommendations.
